Maya Lynn Brimhall

Bachelor's in History

What is your favorite thing about BYU?

The relationships and safe spaces I developed with fellow students and professors.

What was the best learning experience you had?

The best learning experience I had was understanding how I could still heal and flourish under distress.

What/Who are you grateful for as you reflect on your college experience?

I am grateful for the Global Women’s Studies program; for Dr. Valerie Hegstrom, Dr. Rebecca de Schweinitz, and Dr. Roni Jo Draper; for USGA; and for the access I had to therapy so that I could successfully finish college.

My experiences interning with Global Women’s Studies and Better Days 2020 greatly enhanced my educational experience. I’m grateful for the research I got to do with Dr. David James Gonzales in the History department! And I’m grateful for my experience both as a member and leader of the Women’s Studies Honor Society. I couldn’t have made it out of college without GWS or my professors.

What's next for you?

Full-time work in the mental health field and eventually an MSW degree!

Academic Honors that I am graduating with:

Helen Papanikolas Women’s History Student Paper Award
