My favorite thing about BYU is the spiritual atmosphere. This atmosphere helped me understand how everything connects to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, whether it was gaining knowledge of the world around me, striving for excellence, looking to serve others, or progressing both spiritually and professionally. My education felt more valuable as I saw it in the light of the gospel, especially in the BYU environment.
What was the best learning experience you had?
The best learning experience I had was learning to push myself in teaching and especially in writing. While it was difficult, I experienced incredible satisfaction. I recognize the time and thought put into my craft and it is priceless to me. These experiences still give me confidence as I move toward the future.
What/Who are you grateful for as you reflect on your college experience?
I am grateful for all my professors and the faculty at BYU. They inspired and encouraged me. Many of my highest role models taught me at BYU. I am also grateful for my family, friends, and husband that supported me in each struggle, success, and every paper. I am especially grateful for my parents that supported me emotionally and academically, reviewing almost every paper I wrote.
Throughout my time at BYU, I received considerable support through full and part tuition scholarships. They helped me to focus on my studies and feel confident as I attended an excellent school. I have also enjoyed and been extremely grateful for the teaching experience that I had both at BYU, in practicum, and during student teaching. They are experiences that I will never forget and have introduced me to people and friendships I will treasure.
What's next for you?
I hope to teach secondary education, specifically history in the next few years. I am passionate about teaching and am in love with the profession. I am excited to continue to learn as I teach others. The idea of passing on the gift of knowledge and experience thrills me, and I am grateful for all I have gained at BYU that I can share with others.
